The NFL has mandated Guardian Caps since the 2022 season with expanded use that includes all practices—preseason, regular season, and postseason—that include contact. The list of positions mandated to wear Caps includes: OL, DL, LB, DB, TE, RB, FB, WR. Additionally, all NFL players are permitted to wear Guardian Caps during games if they so choose.
